Next Meetup Planning

Hooray, the next fishing meetup is on the horizon! Our first meetup was a huge success, we had about 20 people come and we gave away some great prizes from our sponsors. Thanks again to The Fly Rod Shop, Dr. Slick and Neshobe Nets for providing some awesome giveaways and cool nets to check out!

The next meetups topics have been decided!

They are going to be:

  1. Fly Fishing - We are going to do a basic intro / explainer or why you would want to do fly fishing instead of using traditional fishing gear. It looks difficult, because it is! It requires a bit of finesse but with a little practice its really not that bad. We'll talk a little about the kinds of rods and reels as well as types of lures and where to go put it all to use in Vermont. We are trying to put together a simple fly casting demo so you can try it out and see if you enjoy it.

  2. What the Fish?! - We are going to be discussing the most popular, plentiful and widely recognized fish in Lake Champlain. Knowing what you have caught is important for following regulations and not taking fish out of season. Not only does it help preserve species and allow them to spawn, it usually also gives you a good idea of what species to target at a given time of the year.

We hope you will join us for the next meetup! Come to Three Needs at the top of Church St, get a pint of refreshing beer to wash down the delicious pizza!

This meetup is also the unofficial launch of btvfishing.com. I am really enjoying the meetups and I am working to build something that will allow me to continue educating people and sharing the stoke of fishing on Lake Champlain and Vermont. You can watch my adventures on YouTube over at Vermont2U, or check out other VT related channels like Woods North, Anglingwithalex, Woods and Weeds and many more!
